Ipod classic 160gb, lost all music

Can anyone help please, i have lost all my music on my ipod!!!

I had my ipod classic connected to my macbook. My settings in itunes is to manually manage my itunes, so it doesn't sync automatically reason being all my music on my ipod is not in my itunes library. Somehow my ipod has lost all my songs, no music at all on it now. I connected it again to my itunes and it tells me that there is 149.5 gb free space. I had easily a few thousand songs on this. My ipod music has been backed up on an external hard drive. I have loads of different playlists for fitness classes which i have now lost and although the music will be on my hard drive i don't know the playlists etc. Is there anyway i can restore my ipod back to point before it lost all its music??

I appreciate any help/advice.

Unfortunately no. Any playlists made on the device would have been recorded in its internal library which has clearly gone. Depending on what has happened it is sometimes possible to reclaim media from a corrupt device but 149Gb of free space suggests the drive has been wiped clean.

In future sync your device with selected playlists from your library, and make a backup of the library too.
