What happens when you try? Do you get an error message? If yes, which message?
If the upload just hangs, make sure, that the book can be rendered by creating a Preview, see: https://help.apple.com/photos/mac/1.0/?lang=en#/pht6e15caf3
Make a PDF file of a project to review
- Click Projects in the toolbar, then double-click the project you want to save as a PDF.
- Do one of the following:
- Choose File > Print. Click the PDF pop-up menu at the bottom of the dialog and choose Save as PDF.
- Press the Option key while you click the Buy button.
- Press the Control key while you click in the background of your project, then choose “Save [project] as PDF.”
- Enter a name and select a location, then click Save.
If you get the error message "Try again later", make sure, that you have a good internet connection and that no firewall or antivirus software is blocking the access to the Print products Store. Restart the Mac in Safe Mode, as described here at this link: Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode
While in Safe Mode try again to order. This will disable non-standard system additions, that might be interfering.
You are running Yosemite and the new Photos app, right? If so then léonie's suggestions are what you need to follow:
If not then there are these issues that you'll need to address. Two users have talked to senior Support personnel and were told that one must upgrade to Yosemite and either use iPhoto 9.6.1 or the new Photos to upload the the finished book:
Re: greeting card will not upload; it assembles but no upload
Re: iPhoto book not uploading to the store. Quits after assembling
So we're left with either upgrading to Yosemite, getting iPhoto 9.6.1 and ordering or keep trying with what we have and hope it goes thru or Apple fixes the problem. Some users reported success after repeated attempts over time.
.
Thanks for your reply. I have done everything that you suggested but although the assembly is fine it still won't upload to the store. The error message is 'An error occurred uploading your order. Click Retry to upload failed asset again or cancel' . My computer is Mac OSX 10.6.8 and the i Photo 9.2.3. I have gone into safe mode but then there is no internet connection. Any more ideas please. These are my wedding photos and I have spent a long time compiling this book so would love to have it to show people. Many thanks

Sorry, you posted the question in the Photos forum, so I thought you were using the Photos.app and not iPhoto.
My computer is Mac OSX 10.6.8 and the i Photo 9.2.3.
Apple stopped the developement of iPhoto. It is no longer sold and many services (Print Products, Maps) seem no longer to be supported for older iPhoto versions. Have you looked at the links Old Toad posted? Only iPhoto 9.6.1 is still well supported.
Would it be feasable to update your mac to Yosemite and then use the new Photos.app? Some older software will not work with Yosemite, and the iPhoto 9.6.1 update will probably not be available for you, since your iPhoto is not an App Store version.
As a work-around, if you do not want to update to Yosemite, you can select the "File > Print" command in iPhoto to create a PDF file of your Book, and then copy it to a USB keychain and take it to local print store to have your wedding book printed and bound.
As an add on to léonie's last post there's an online photofinisher, PrestoPhoto, that advertises that it can print hard bound books from iPhoto and Photos PDF files. You can give them a try. If you do let us know how it went as others are interested in their service.
Thank you Old Toad and Leonie for all your help. I am incredibly annoyed with Apple that they have stop supporting this version of iPhoto. It seems beyond belief that I have a perfectly good computer that was specifically bought with the aim that I could keep all my photos on it and design books for myself, friends and relatives. The fact that they didn't even send a message through when I tried to order the book to say that it was no longer possible, enrages me. I will try other methods of getting a book done but it could be some time now as I am very busy at work. I certainly won't be rushing to buy any more Apple products. Many, many thanks again for all your help.
