My mac is 21.5 inch (mid 2010), I am also running yosmite. I want to use bootcamp assistant which I have already, but will my mac have built in optical drives so that I can install Windows 7?

I'm sorry I don't seem to have a Media folder with 'Slot-loading 8x SuperDrive', the only Media folder I have is in 'office' which has related items in to do with word etc.
So where is my built in optical drive?
Also do I make the partition on my internal hard drive or USB?
OPTICAL should be on the right and side of the monitor.
installing Windows from bootcamp I think your only option is a partition on your internal drive.
Parallels or the like may give you more latitude with this.

No, it's slot on the side of the frame, upper right hand corner along the side. You can't see it from the front, it's simply a slot, not a sliding door.
The partition option will be asked by Bootcamp when you install. Don't pre-partition ahead of running Bootcamp.
It is an actual physical slot-loading DVD/CD drive, not a software thing. As pointed out, it is a slot on the side of the computer, like the CD player in a car.
Its just the part where I put the Windows 7 software disc? ( I call it the bit where my CDs go). đ
