trouble creating mirrored Raid (Raid 1)

Hello ,

I got a new hdd (WD my Book) and i've been trying to set it up as a mirrored raid set (RAID 1) however when i set everything up the "create" button is inaccessible (greyed).. I have a Macbook pro 10.9.5.. It doesn't look like it is already RAID 1 (this is partly according to the resalers information) and also because when i went to partitions, it states the full capacity of the hard disk (4 tb) as opposed to a RAID 1 would be expected to give you half?
