South Park Issues

I am frustrated with the wonderful service I've gotten from Apple (yes, sarcasm is a beautiful way to start with a post). I purchased South Park Season 10 when it was first released as a season pass. I got the first seven episodes of the season. Everything was fine. Then the second half of the season started and it became "Season 10A." I purchased Season 10 under the impression I was getting Season 10 in its entirety—not just the first half. I posted my account history here:

I removed the order and invoice numbers for the sake of my sanity and to prevent someone else from using them to their advantage.

This is a clear misrepresentation of my purchase. And it isn't the first time.

Before the introduction of the Season Pass, I picked up Law & Order Season 16 under the impression that I was purchasing the entire season. It says I did on my account history as well. However, I was shorted 10 episodes out of the season and given a very curt response that I did not purchase what I thought I purchased. Apparently "Law & Order Season 16" isn't "Law & Order Season 16".

With that kind of logic, I'm wondering how much longer I will be purchasing from the ITS.

Gracias, did that before i posted this. Forgot to mention it. I did manage to get a response:

"I understand you purchased South Park season 10 and have stopped receiving episodes. To continue this season pass you have to purchase season 10B.

"I understand this season was not in two parts when you purchased it and I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. All iTunes customers have had to purchase the rest of the episodes separately."

In other words, they admitted to exactly what I described. A clear misrepresentation of the product sold to me and what amounts to a bait and switch.

I also bought the Season Pass for South Park Season 10 in the Spring. When I bought it, it stated that there would be several episodes in the Spring and several at the end of the year. That information does not show up on my Season Pass email or my receipt, but I bought the Season Pass on that basis. I got my Spring episodes and kept waiting for an email for fall episodes, but did not get one. I recently found that several fall/winter episodes were posted at the ITunes store. I have asked ITunes Customer Support for an explanation, but haven't received one. If I get the same reply you did, I would view that as fraud on Apple's part. I sure hope I don't get the same answer that you did.

Look at the other seasons, they're $24.99+. Did you expect that you'd get the latest season for just $12? I totally figured this is what iTunes was doing. I think they're just trying to keep up with Comedy Central's release schedule for South Park, and perhaps they didn't know how to handle it themselves.

It's just one of those situations where it does make sense, but it also really kind of doesn't. It's no one's fault, it's just how it worked out. I do feel for you, but technically [because of the price], you did only pay for the first part of the season. It would be a different story if you paid like, $24. :\

Do the math - a season for $11.99 and expecting how many episodes? The pricing history of the previous seasons reflects similar pricing per episode.

Anyhow - I just don't understand why it is always Apple's fault. They are at the mercy of the copyright owners/content providers. If the content providers decide to break a season up that is their right. Season 10B is no cheaper with a seasons pass versus single purchases. At the end of the day the most you are paying is $1.99 per episode.

As a man of my word, I said that I would not end this until there was a resolution. Apple sent out an e-mail to those of us who purchased Season 10 before it became 10A that said we would be able to download the rest of the season. I thank Apple for their concern over my problem and the resolution of the situation. I realize this was an issue that started from the beginning of the video set up and I realize this was not an intentional glitch.

By the way, that whole spiel wasn't paid for by Apple, it's just something I felt was necessary.

I was one of the people who purchased Season 10 before the 10A notice. I also purchased the seven 10B episodes separately as they came out. I just checked my e-mail and lo and behold, I had a message from the iTunes Store with a code for seven free $1.99 videos, to make up for my seven 10B purchases.

I'm glad to see Apple finally righted this. 🙂
