Favorites as top ribbon ??

Just updated to Yosemite, and therefor latest Safari. Favorites bar went away. Now in bookmarks sidebar. This means 3 clicks to get to items #1 open bookmarks sidebar #2 click on Favorites #3 go to desired site.

On a 13" MacBook Pro the bookmarks sidebar takes up 20% of Safari window, so I only open bookmarks sidebar when I need something there. I want my favorites back at the top as a row of options that take up less screen space and are available with 1 click. Or have I been "improved / upgraded" to something somewhat annoying?
