'Rotating cube' effect for user switching disappeared!

Since updating to OS 10.4.8, the cool effect of the rotating cube has disappeared when you change users. Not sure how to get it back, I have tried turning 'fast user switching' off and then on again, but no change. Rebooting has no effect either. Anyone got any ideas, or similar issues?
Thanks,
Nicky

I'm pretty sure this situation affected my FUS: on one of my profiles I had downloaded an old OS 9 game (tailgunner, that cool vector arcade classic) that auto-switched my display, then promptly crashed on me. Whatever you do, don't try that game!
When I FUS instead of displaying an animated cube, Tiger now displays the previous desktop briefly, then switches to the next active one (we like changing our desktops).

I'm actually trying to GET THE CUBE BACK 'cause I actually like it (yeah I know, getalife) and am seeing weird articles on dragging colorsync profiles into something you can only call up by typing a command in Terminal.

Here is the link, but be forwarned, it didn't help me...

There has to be some more reasonable explanation...

I have finally solved this problem.

In order for the rotating cube effect to work the number of colours must be set to 'millions'. For some reason when I updated to 10.4.8 it changed from 'millions' to 'thousands'.
So even though both accounts were on the same number of colours, they were not set to 'millions', hence the cube effect didn't work.

Now that both are set to millions, the effect works again!

Hope this helps anyone else having the same problem.
