Dial up help

Will Mountain Lion support an the Apple external modern and dial up connections? A friends moving to an area with NO WiFi and he need help.

MacBook Air (13-inch Mid 2013), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

The Apple external USB modem will not work with Mountain Lion. That support was dropped with the introduction of Lion.


The Apple external USB Modem was not a full hardware modem, it relied on software built into older OS X versions.


With Lion or higher, you will need a full hardware USB modem, i.e., for US Robotics.
