Well first off, it might help if you described what happens when you attempt to update. Do you receive an error message, and if so, what is the exact wording of the error? Describe the issue in as much detail as you can and what you have done to try and correct it.

What happens when you try to update? Are updating over the air or using

iTunes on a computer?

If there is an error message, what is the exact complete text of that error message?

You need to provide more details before someone can offer a solution.

Please clarify "will not work" and we may be able to help you.

It would help if we knew how you were trying to update, since there are two ways that it can be done. Are using using WiFi? Are you using iTunes?

You really need to provide some more information.

You need to try and do better with the exact error. If there is a problem downloading the software, as you were asked before, are you attempting to do this OTA, or with the device connected to iTunes? Again, what troubleshooting have you tried? If using iTunes, have you restarted the computer and opened iTunes again? Anything?

Then you have a lot more going on than your phone problem if you are experiencing a network problem with the computer. That is what is causing the failed downloads.

Try power cycling your router by unplugging it from power for about 30 seconds, see if that helps the network connection. Then reboot your computer.

Ask for assistance at the IT help desk for your college. Many college networks

block devices that have not been pre-approved.
