I have an amazing router Netgear C3700 on 5Ghz wifi (300Mbps)
Macbook air (10.10.5) + Apple tv (3rd gen) and router are in the same room
Bluetooth is off (tried on On)
but apple airplay is just Laggy !!!! nothing works fine
why is this?
That will be due to the network.
Try on 2.4Ghz
If using mirroring, make sure there is no other activity occurring (other streaming, network backups etc)
Try ethernet
To see a current status of the network, get a report from istumbler or similar. Look for signal strength, noise, nearby networks
Apple tv is connected directly to the router with a cat6 patch cable
macbook air is on 5Ghz because on 2.4Gh i get 10mbps and on 5Ghz I get 92Mbps
also Im on a unique channel (153) since all of my neighbors on other channels (to avoid interference)
I have my hbo go on safari (only one tab opened)
no other programs are running in the background
Apple tv doesn't run any programs on the background either (not capable)
I get full signal strength on my mac (router and macbook air is 2m apart)
Still it lags !!!
I have the same setup and chrome cast works fine.. but i hate using chrome and I need my tv for work since the macbook air screen is small.
even typing on word via mirroring is annoying most of the time.
Best to try 2.4 for troubleshooting purposes
What are the values for signal snd noise on the report?
Test on another network or take to Apple for testing.
Apple AirPlay is just useless and laggy why ??
