Q: "Remove playlist and continue"

Okay, so I'm wanting to load some music from a CD onto my computer. The CD consists of recordings of pieces in a piano literature book for my students. I want a copy on my computer. But I get the message in the pic. I just subscribed to iTunes Match because I was told that would mean all of my local music would be uploaded to my iCloud Music Library and be available on all my devices. I can live without this particular CD being available, but I will have more I want to add. Am I not going to be able to do this? I just paid $25 for a one time upload of my local library, but now I can add nothing more to it that didn't come from iTunes?

    Hi,

As stated in this support article, only songs with a bit rate of over 96 Kbps are able to be uploaded into iCloud. A simple fix is to right click on the song (in iTunes), and choose "Create ACC Version". This will bump the bit rate to/over 128 Kbps.

    Hope this helps!

Unfortunately, that does not help. As I very clearly stated, the music in question is coming from a CD. I cannot change the tracks on the CD to a different format, because they're on a CD. I took the next logical step of changing the import setting to ACC. But I get the same message.

I don't know why, but now it seems I can import CDs without getting any messages. But how do I get this music into my iCloud Music Library? This article—https://discussions.apple.com/activity?streamSource=connections—is supposed to be about that, but it seems to be saying that it should happen automatically. It doesn't give any instructions for what to do other than to turn on the iCloud Music Library. Mine's on already, but I see no signs that music I have imported from a CD is being uploaded. Additionally, a couple of days ago, on advice from someone else, I purchased iTunes Match which was supposed to solve the problem of my own music not being in the cloud. My iMac spent many hours supposedly uploading nearly 4,000 "songs." But when I look at the song list iTunes, very few of them show the cloud symbol that is supposed to mean they are in my iCloud Music Library. Many are on my iPhone, because I turned off iCloud Music Library on my iMac & iPhone, manually synced my local library with my iPhone's music, and then turned iCloud Music Library back on (this was recommended as a way to deal with getting my own music on my iPhone). Things I just imported from a CD are not on my iPhone, and do not turn up with a search, either of my library or of Apple Music, which apparently does not have this particular CD in its library.

So It appears that I purchased iTunes match for nothing. I'm confused. if it's not that convenient to make my own music available on my iPhone, okay. But it's extremely frustrating to not know what I'm supposed to do our what's supposed to happen when I do it. I have a lot of music, as I know many others have, and I paid a lot of money to buy it. I'm really disappointed that Apple has released this service without, apparently, being sure it wouldn't destroy user's private property. I have not discovered my music being destroyed, but I know many others have.

    Hi,

I suggest that you add the iCloud status column to song view. This will tell what has been matched, uploaded, purchased, ineligible, duplicate or waiting. (Apple music will show when you add tracks from Apple Music library.

The ones without icons are on your computer  and in the cloud. Ones with download icon are only in the cloud. NB Waiting and duplicate are not in the cloud.

I appreciate your taking the time to respond, but I have done that. That's how I know that "very few of them show the cloud symbol that is supposed to mean they are in my iCloud Music Library." My problem is that supposedly all of my library was uploaded to the cloud when I purchased iTunes Match, but "very few of them show the cloud symbol that is supposed to mean they are in my iCloud Music Library."

Hm, my library only shows a cloud related symbol if a song is either not in iCloud, or has a problem. It's possible, since there's no icon, they're already in your iCloud Music Library.

According to this http://www.imore.com/how-check-if-your-macs-songs-are-uploaded-matched-purchased -or-apple-music-drm-laden , there is supposed to be an "iCloud status" option, but none shows up for me. Some of my music I can access from my iPhone, and some of it isn't there (or I can't find it). And I'm talking about items that were in my library when I purchased iTunes Match. They either are not in the cloud at all, or something is wrong with the searching.

I posted a screen shot of what I see in song view. I was requesting a screen shot of what you are seeing in song view not a copy of the pic in your original post.
