External Drive Display Formats

I have 5 external hard drives attached to my early 2008 17" MacBook Pro which is running OS X 10.9 Mavericks. One for TM backup, one for general information, one for photo library, one for apps I use on occasion, and one for videos. When I open a drive and select a display format, i.e. list or icon, all of the drives display in whatever format I selected for one of the disks. I'd prefer that the video disk display in list format and the App disk display in icon format and remain that way whenever I open the external disk. Is it possible to make that happen? How?
