iMac will not wake up from sleep as scheduled by energy saver

iMac 12, 1, mid 2011 running Yosemite.

iMac scheduled to wake up every day ay 7am after late night shut-down, but it does not wake up as scheduled and I have to do it manually in the morning. What gives? Trying to conserve energy but waiting the near minute for the hard drive to spool up every morning is not ideal.

Hey there Guerillaw,

It sounds like you have your computer scheduled to wake up at a certain time but it's not. I would use this section of the following article to help you get that resolved:

If your Mac doesn't sleep or wake when expected

  • Reset the SMC.
  • Reset NVRAM.
  • Disconnect external devices other than your Apple keyboard, mouse, and display. If that resolves the issue, gradually reconnect your devices, testing each time, until you find the device that is interfering with sleep. Then check the documentation that came with the device, or contact the device manufacturer.
  • Start up in Safe Mode to see if the issue is related to non-Apple startup items, login items, or kernel extensions.
  • Try to isolate the issue by using another user account.
