What must I do on my MacBook Pro in order to use my new iPod Touch 6th Gen?

I will be getting this iPod Touch soon, and was wondering if there is anything I need to do in order to use the iPod touch. I am assuming it is like using an iPhone (minus the phone feature) by connecting to iTunes... If any of you use the new iPod touch can you tell me how the pictures and video come out? Thank you!
