OS x Yosemite. Email opens each message when I click on it. Previously, I would have to click twice to open an email. I do not want the message to open with just one click. I want to be able to delete emails without opening them. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Restart your Mac then see if you can still open mail with only one click. If not, check your settings in System Preferences > Mouse OR Trackpad.
You can delete an email without opening it by right or control clicking then select Delete.
The Mail viewer window has three panes. The dividers between the panes are movable. Drag the divider between the message list and the message preview all the way to the right.
