Hi,
I got a notice for an HP printer s/w update. I got back two of the same, both of which are installed. Can anyone tell me how to verify/delete one of them? They are both exactly the same on the outside, and I don't want to keep a possible Trojan or some other malware...

Sounds like you have installed the Software that was provided with the printer or from HP's web site (not necessary)

Thanks for replying. Unfortunately, I got prompted for the update from the Apple store. Unfortunately, I see nothing of an uninstaller in my files. Looking at the website you provided (http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02440673), it shows an alternate, also. I'll give it a shot and see how that works...

I would suggest removing the drivers that were installed from HP (provided with the printer or from HPs web site),
however, to remove the drivers installed by Apple, try: ->System Preferences->Printers & Scanners, then highlight the printer and click [-]
(You can also follow the instructions in Step 2 in the link I posted above)
[Note: I'm not sure if Apple will automatically re-install when you reconnect your printer]
Seems pretty odd - there's no HP install or deinstall drivers. I did find the folder with the printer drivers (approx 200 of them). I'll go thru them, and see what I find...

If you have only 1 HP device, delete the hp Folders, then follow these instructions and Apple will re-download the drivers.
