IPhone 5 can't connect to hotel wifi

I Went to settings, wifi, then selected the network I wanted join. A box popped up that said "unable to join the network". this hotel does not require inputting a passcode. my wife's iPhone 6 and iPad automatically join without even having to select a network. 2 devices are allowed per room and I have tried turning off networks in her iPad so only 1 is Connected but still no luck
I'd consult with the front desk. It's possible that they hotel's system still thinks that you have your two devices connected even though you've disconnected your wife's iPhone from the WiFi.
You may also need to "forget the network" off of your wife's ipad.
