How to scroll down the page?

Ok - I feel like a total doofus - but I cannot figure out how to scroll down the page using Yosemite on my new Mac Air - Is it a Mac Air issue or a Yosemite issue? Maybe it's because I'm used to a desk top with a bluetooth mouse A user manual would really help. Can anyone tell me how to do this so I don't have to drive an hour and a half to the Apple Store? Thanks

Imac, Macbook, iBookG4, Mac OS X (10.5)

What I told dblaus to do accomplishes exactly that.

No, you said to do the opposite and keep using the antiquated notion of a scroll bar and a thumb which drags in the opposite direction of the way the page moves beneath your fingers.

System Preferences --> Trackpad --> Scroll & Zoom tab --> uncheck "Scroll Direction: Natural"

In the old paradigm, you drag a thumb in the scroll bar to move the view. In the new paradigm, you move the entire view, not the little thumb in the scroll bar, which are almost completely unnecessary.

I merely suggested trying to use the Natural scrolling which is much more "Natural" and takes about a day to get used to.
