if you preview a book Preview a print project in Photos, iPhoto, or Aperture to avoid issues - Apple Support - the printed book will match the preview or Apple will stand behind it

Sep 7, 2015 9:54 AM in response to LHCSFby Old Toad,What book theme are you using and is it in all pages with text boxes of that theme? Can you post a screenshot of what you're seeing?
Take a screenshot of part of your screen
- Press Command (⌘)-Shift-4. You'll see that your cursor changes to a crosshair pointer.
- Move the crosshair pointer to where you want to start the screenshot.
- Drag to select an area. To adjust the area, hold Shift, Option, or the Space bar while you drag.

Sep 8, 2015 1:37 PM in response to Old Toadby happyquilter,Hi
The theme is Picture Book. I created several pages with a layout as follows: one photo (portrait style) filling approximately 2/3 of the page and with a text box on the other third of the page.
On two of the pages the text box has a black background when I preview the page. Also if I look at an overview of the book (i.e I am looking at all the pages together on the screeen) the background for the text box on those two pages is black.
However when I work on that individual page the text box has a white background and I can type or edit my text.
On all the other pages created the same way as these two there is no problem,
I tried to recreate the two pages in question and delete the bad ones. The newly recreated pages (which happen to be pages 2 & 3) have the same problem i.e. black text box.
I spent 3 hours with Apple on the phone this am and they were unable to fix the issue. Spo far they came up with " there seems to be a glitch with your project".
I spent about 50 hours creating this book and don't really want to start over but I may have to.
I am looking for suggestions on what other software to use, perhaps Shutterfly?
Many thanks for any possible help.

Sep 8, 2015 3:06 PM in response to happyquilterby Old Toad,★HelpfulWhat page background color does that one page have in comparison to the other pages?
Note: there are 3 themes named "Picture Book". The screenshot above is from the second one in the list:
If the black text background does not show in the pdf file created from the book then it won't show up in the finished product: Preview a print project in Photos, iPhoto, or Aperture to avoid issues - Apple Support. That's because the book is printed from the pdf file.
Make and keep the pdf file to compare it with the printed version when it arrives.

Sep 8, 2015 3:12 PM in response to Old Toadby LHCSF,Happyquilter described my problem exactly (Picture book theme, title page and pages 1-2 are the problems; one photo and one text box per page; it looks fine in page view but not the overview). The text box background shows up dark dark grey such that the font is illegible. I previewed the pdf and it looked fine so I placed the order for several books in two different projects. I think I did the same for the last version and it came out incorrectly, so I will see what happens this time. I saved the pdfs. Thank you.

Sep 9, 2015 11:24 AM in response to Old Toadby happyquilter,I originally created it as a white page. And it still looks like a white page when I work on it. However when I look at it as an overview or in preview the text box is black.
when I open it to work on it, i.e. change the background colour it shows as white. if I change to another colour, say teal, it changes to tea. However, it continues to show as black on overview and preview.

Sep 9, 2015 1:08 PM in response to happyquilterby Old Toad,Duplicate the book and in the duplicate copy delete the problem pages and add new ones to see if that will fix the issue.
Also give this a try:
1- - delete the contents the following folder: User/Library/Containers/com.apple.Photos
2 - reboot, launch Photos and try again.
NOTE: For Mavericks and Yosemite, go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
where you can check the Show Library Folder checkbox.
