The drive may need to be connected through an USB hub with its own power supply.

The drive really needs to be formatted in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) to work with a Time Capsule. FAT32 can work, but is not recommended due to compatibility issues and file size limitations. If the drive is formatted for Windows in a popular format like NTFS or exFAT,, the drive will not work at all with the Time Capsule.
The USB port on the Time Capsule is not high power at all, so even if the drive is formatted correctly, often a powered USB hub is required to supply adequate power for the drive.
Hi guys thank you for reply. My external HD has already its own power supply and I thought was enough. I will try with an USB hub.
I need FAT32 to manage from both computer (windows and iMac). I know this has limits (4 Gb to copy files), bun iMac see it correctly
Thanks
You might not be aware that your Windows computer can also read the Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format just fine. Unfortunately though, it will read it as FAT32.
It'll only be able to do so if the drive's connected to the Time Capsule or if software such as MacDrive is installed on the PC.

The OP said that the drive would be connected to the Time Capsule. When a Mac OS Extended (Journaled) drive is connected to a Time Capsule, it becomes a "network" drive. PCs read the "network" drive as if it were FAT32.
