"iTunes could not back up the iPhone because the iPhone is disconnected"

I was able to back up for no problem until recently when this annoying message keeps appearing.

"iTunes could not back up the iPhone because the iPhone is disconnected"

The Syncing is of no problem. So that proves the phone is "connected".

I have all the latest OS/software for both my phone and my Mac.

I have read through related articles in the forum. None of the suggest fixes work for me, including turning off WiFi, Cellular, changing phone name, restarting phone/Mac, switching off other USB connections, etc.

Can somebody help me on this? My greatest appreciation!

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select

SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages

from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select

View ▹ Show Log List

from the menu bar at the top of the screen.

Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then take the action that isn't working the way you expect. Select any lines that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.

The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.

Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.

Some private information, such as your name or email address, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

When you post the log extract, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "The message contains invalid characters." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the text on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

"iTunes could not back up the iPhone because the iPhone disconnected"

I have the same alert for the past 13-14 days every time I connect my iPhone 6.

I use the same cable and port for syncing my iPad without a problem.

Here is the message on the CONSOLE:

I have the same issue. Can you help? Thank you. Sync works, and is set for automatic backup. Backup fails. I attempted manual backup. "Console" shows the following:

Like jaime198, I get the same error message on the iPhone 6 yet I can use the same cable and port on the iPad and mini without any problem. Also, I cannot backup on the iMac using the wifi on the iPhone but it works with the iPads. I was finally able to back the iPhone from the phone only today. However, I want to do a full backup before I buy a new phone.

I am going to see if I can back up the iPhone on the MacPro.

Thank you for any assistance.

iPhone 6S, iTunes 12.3.3.xx. Put in airplane mode, deleted contents of lockdown folder, deleted Backup folder. Plugged in phone. Manually backed up. Took more than 12 hours and at end ""iTunes could not back up the iPhone because the iPhone is disconnected"

Is something corrupt on the phone? Is there something to look for in a log? I really don't want to start over because I've downloaded lots of stuff via several apps.

I was able to backup after updating to iTunes 12.5.1. Not sure this is what did it. But I had tried recently to backup without success. One thing I may have done differently was allowing iCloud backup. I had been reluctant to try this since I knew I couldn't back up my 128GB phone to a 5GB iCloud. MacOSX 10.11.6 El Cap.

Nice to have this working after at least six months of not being able to. Good timing with iOS 10. Could confidently upgrade after backing up.
