Can you help me out with a black screen iPad?

Follow the directions in this support article: If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn on - Apple Support and make sure you charge it for at least an hour. If it is completly dead it may take a good 15-20 minutes to turn back on. You may also need to try another charger and/or outlet. -AJ
First thing I would do is connect the iPad to the charger that came with it and plug that into a known good wall outlet. If the battery is completely drained it will take up to 30 minutes before the iPad responds. After thirty minutes on the charger reset the iPad. Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.
If the iPad restarts let it continue to charge until the battery is 100%.
