while typing in any application the cursor and input point jump backwards to a previous point in the text. My teackpad was suspected and replaced but the problem persists. What to do?

Have you ever used a drawing tablet or alternate pointing device on this Mac?
Is your battery swollen (this can put pressure on the underside of the trackpad and may cause it to malfunction).
From the menu bar, select
Edit ▹ Substitutions
and uncheck all the options. Test. If the problem is resolved, you can experiment with re-enabling some of the options to further isolate the cause. You can change text replacements in the Text tab of the Keyboard preference pane.
