problem with iPad mini 2 and TV mirroring via cable

Hi,

I was watching TV via my iPad mini 2 and all was fine until the tv screen froze, Initially I thought the iPad had paused or gone into standby or something but the iPad was still playing fine. Since this happened yesterday I cannot look at anything on my iPad mini through the tv not even my icons etc. Does anyone know what the problem is and how to solve it
