iMovie Quits Unexpectedly While Using the IMovie Plugin

The above title is actually the first line of the error screen that comes up after everything disappears. It just started happening this week after having no issues at all. I am editing a project in iMovie and things have been great. But now, every ten minutes or so the program is disappearing/quitting, and then prompting me to reopen iMovie. It shows the error strings, which I am going to paste below this question.

I am using the prior version of iMovie (iMovie 11 - Version 9.0.9) -- I like it much better than the upgrade and it's been working great, until this week. My OS is OSX-10.9.5. It seems to be happening when I am inserting cutaway photographs - as I am adjusting the photo length or cropping them. But happens doing other things as well.

Here is the information as it appears on the error screen after the app. quits. (NOTE: The forum wouldn't allow me to post the entire thread - telling me there are unacceptable characters. So I am posting just the start of the error information, hoping the answer lies in here.)

I am hoping that a tech. savvy person sees what is happening here. Please help me with this.
