Late 2011-MacBook Pro SamSung SSD

Hi,

I've recently installed the SamSung Evo 850 Solid State Drive in my macbook pro. I used Disk utility to clone my HDD and than installed it into my machine. It works 100% but Startup/Shutdown seems to be really slow. I'm unsure why.

"About this Mac":

Processor 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7

Memory 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3

Graphics Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB

Software OS X 10.9.5 (13F1112)

I skipped "partitioning" the SSD but I saw that for "Intel" based Mac's you need to do this step or "it won't boot" Which i'm unsure of why that was said because mine boots but it takes about 32 seconds. Way too long. I can always go back with my USB to Sata cable and swap the old HDD in and Partition the SSD if it means faster shutdown/startup times. Thanks for any possible help.

I mean it cloned everything perfectly.. I don't think that has much to do with my problem? should I just go back and partition the SSD?
