delete purchased music that was purchsed on the phone

I bought an album a while back on my phone in the iTunes store. I want to get rid of it and cannot get this album off my phone. I've tried going into iTunes on my computer>purchased> hide album. Tried going into settings on my phone and show all music and iTunes match are not checked. Cannot swipe left on songs or the album and delete it, It just plays the song when I try that. This is driving me crazy. I realize there are other discussions about this but none of their solutions helped me.
