Safari virus??

I received an error trying to open safari. http//www.mac-securities-error-alert.info. Critical Security Warning! Call 1-844-358-7352 and they ask for an error code which is given in the message. Scam?? Safari will not open until I call. I just need to know what I need to do to get safari back.

iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2011)

It is a scam.

What ever you do, don't call that number.

No one on the web can tell what is running on your Mac.

Force quit Safari and when restarting it hold down Shift Key.

I Though it was. thanks! So when I force quit, do I click safari or safari web content (not responding).
