My Retina MP (mid 2-12) appears to heat up more significantly especially when streaming videos...is this a warning that it needs service or new battery?

The computer appears to significantly heat up while streaming videos; is this a warning that it needs service, or a new battery? Is there a recommended time-limit for streaming on a MacBook Pro?
