Linux kernel error on iPad mini retina 16gb

Hi,

We have an iPad mini that will not boot up. It tries to turn on every once in a while with the white screen and black apple logo. It cycles like that but sometimes stops with a Linux kernel error. Some kind of "panic" error. It's bizarre. None of the usual reset functions will work. Anyone seen this before? it is less than 2 years old and has not been abused. It's like brand new.

Hi sperkinsCIO,

Thanks for participating in the Apple Support Communities.

It looks like your iPad mini doesn't start up and you sometimes see a "panic" error on the screen.

You mentioned that the usual resets don't work. Have you tried restoring the device to factory settings using iTunes?

If not, next try the steps in Use iTunes to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings.

If you've already tried this or the steps don't work, see If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

Sincerely.
