If your touch screen is still not responding, I would recommend you do these steps from the following article:
If the screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond to touch
- If you have a case or screen protector on your device, try removing it.
- Clean the screen with a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth.
I know it's not much, but if the Home button is not working then there is not much else to do but wait until the device loses power to be able to turn it back on and hopefully the screen will start responding again.
