Go step by step by step and test.

1. Power off the router. Unplug it from the wall. Wait a while.

Plug it back to the wall. Power the router on. Wait until all the lights are lit properly. It will take a while.

Restart the computer.

Start up in Safe Mode.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

When I click on Safari the message comes up to say Safari can't connect to the server. If I go to History I can access previous sites and browse. My provider is Virgin Media. I have contacted them and they said everything is running and the can see the Mac. All other devices are working and loading, ie tablets, phones & iPad. Other functions are working, ie Spotify.

Thanks,

Rob

I opened Chrome, googled Virgin Media then set that as homepage, but this wasn't the same page I originally had. I was able to access my History, so located a previous page there, got my homepage there and set this instead. This seems to have done the job. So far so good!

My conclusion is that somehow the home page URL was erased. (perhaps my 12yr old son!!)

The iMac is now 5yrs old so I will have it checked over.

Many thanks for your assistance.

Rob
