Q: kernel panic!!!

i keep on having kernel panic's on my mac pro. it used to only happen when i would watch a video or go to a webpage with a video but now it happens all the time.

i tried to reinstall osx.

it worked for a couple of hours but then another kernel panic occured. i made sure every thing is updated also.

i dont know what else to do please help!!!!!!

    Can you describe a bit better what happens when you have what you call a "kernel panic" ?

    You appear to have an unusual graphics problem occurring in a Mac with no third-party kernel extensions to muddy the waters. The extensions at the "scene of the crime" are all graphics related.

     

    Read this article, then make a Genius bar appointment, if you have access to an Apple store. Be early, and ask for the VST test. The VST test runs for 12 minutes or more while displaying patterns, unless it fails earlier.

    Apple-Authorized Service Providers make their own policies, including whether to charge for evaluations.

     

    If they run the VST test and determine that it fails AND the other requirements are also met, they can replace your motherboard for no charge (but may have to order the parts first, which may take quite a while).

     

    Some users have found relief by dropping back to an older version of Mac OS X (which can be a lot of work in the field) or by using the little Utility named gfxcardstatus for force the computer to use integrated graphic as much as possible, and not switch back and forth.

    Yes. It may slow down graphics processing ever so slightly since the discrete graphics is a little faster.

     

    It will not be able to hold you on Integrated graphics if you attach an external display (because that always switches on the discrete graphics chip).

     

    However, it will should make the graphics panics much less likely to occur.
