My iPhone 5s does not support my sd card reader

hi all, I have an iPhone 5s, I want to upload my photos using my new lightning to SD card camera Reader, but the iPhone 5s tells me when I connect the cable (this accessory is not supported by this iPhone) spoke to Apple who told me it should, but could not hep me, does anybody have any ideas what I might be able to try,

iPhone 5s, iOS 8.0.2

According to the specifications listed in the Apple Store the Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader is only compatible with iPads. It will not work with an iPhone.

Copy your photos to your computer and organize them there. Then use iTunes on the computer to sync albums of photos to your iPhone.
