I'm working with HP Photo Creations and want to select and add some of my photos. However, in the finder window my photos library isn't available (it's dimmed). How can I fix this?

On my system, I cannot add directly from Finder. I have to click Add Photos from HP Photo Creations and select the Photos media from the media browser that opens.
When I click add photos from HP Creations and select Photos media, I get the frame but no photos are there.
I know this is a bit basic, but I have to ask, what do you see in Photos alone? Are there photos in there?
Next, with Photos closed, Option-click Photos. Do you have multiple .photo.libraries? If so, you have the wrong one as default system library and will need to follow these directions. Designate a System Photo Library in Photos - Apple Support
In order for HP Creations to access photos in the Photos library it will have to be updated by its developers to be compatible with the new archtecture of Yosemite and Photos.
