Q: I did all this but it still re-backed up the whole HD again.

I Copied the back up folder (about 1tb) to the new disc (2tb) then backed up on the new disc and it used 1.6tb.

DId a back up to the old disc and it perfumes as usual. There was once a few gb to back up.

Guess Iwill have to re format new disc and try again.

The only thing that was odd is that it looked like it had re-started in the night and there was certainly a sotware update

that was downloaded. Next time I will go off line.

Could that be the problem.
