Sep 6, 2015 6:51 PM in response to 1richchicby Ralph Landry1,FaceTime works just like a phone call on a computer. Where two phones on the same line cannot call each other, two computers on the same Apple ID cannot call each other. They must each be on a different Apple ID.
Each is then setup in the FaceTime Preferences, Accounts with the Apple ID, iCloud email, and phone number for an iPhone if you have them.
To make a FaceTime call both computers must be connected to the Internet. You can call one computer using the email address for the account on the other computer.

Sep 7, 2015 8:33 AM in response to 1richchicby Drew Reece,As Ralph already suggested, use 2 Apple ID's.
If you have other friends or family with an Apple ID try face-timing them as a test - I suspect FaceTime is not designed to call yourself. Apple ID's are intended to be used by one person. It gets messy when you share one amongst more people.
