Q: Old iTunes Metadata not Recognized

This is for iTunes on  PC.  Recently had a hard drive crash, so when loading all my music files in from backup I thought I would use the "Automatically add to iTunes" folder as my music library had been a bit scattered and I wanted to get everything in the same place.

But a lot of my music shows up in iTunes with either just the artist, or was put in the Unknown Artist folder and has absolutely no metadata.  But when I look at it in File Explorer, it still has all the metadata, such as artist, album, etc.  Looking closer at the properties, it is music that was imported by iTunes, version 6 about.  If I go in and manually change that to the current iTunes version, it recognizes the metadata and updates the file in iTunes.  But obviously I would like a mass way to do this.  I have tried the Convert ID3 Tags method and the turning off and on of Keep iTunes Media folder organized.

How do I get iTunes to recognize an older version of iTunes Metadata?  Or convert it to a newer version?  Thanks
