iPhone 6 burnt- How is that possible

Long story short , my iPhone fell in the water , we put it in rice and under a blow dryer , when my technician tried to remove my sim , the phone suddenly started burning/smoking , he had blisters on his fingers. The phone was not plugged into the charger , how could this happen. I have a video from our cctv , not sure where I can upload it

iPhone 6, iOS 8.4

The phone was never opened ! I work 12 years in the cellphone industry , I have my own shop for 5 years ,something like this has never ever happened . My point is , even if the phone fell in the water , it should still not start burning !

You put a hair dryer on it. Most likely the battery absorbed the heat and started burning. If you have had 12 years in the cell phone industry then you should have learned that in your first lesson.

Again, sorry, but the damage has been done.

As I am in this thread, I want my say too:

you said "The phone was never opened ! I work 12 years in the cellphone industry , I have my own shop for 5 years ,something like this has never ever happened . My point is , even if the phone fell in the water , it should still not start burning"

If that is your opinion, I am glad that we did never do business . You know quite well that when you create a short circuit, you can have explosions (batteries) and burning. Maybe not very often but the possibility is always there.

I am going to log out of this thread, you have made this remark already after all posts that explain why this can happen.

Dried hundreds of phones with a blow dryer on very low heat , never had that problem.

Then you've been extremely lucky. Hair dryers will push water deeper into the phone. They should never be used on a wet phone. In fact, I can't really think of any good reason to use a hair dryer on a phone. I might use canned air to clean out a charging port but that's about it.
