Q: it keeps shutting down or restarting when i plug it into the computer

iPad 4th gen, there are times when you are playing on it and it will just shut down/restart in the middle of running apps.  when you plug it into the computer to sync with iTunes, it constantly is not connecting or the error code shows that it is trying to load it but it can't.  Then when it finally does get connected, it doesn't charge while updating and then it will start resetting itself again when you try to sync.  I have tried to back up the settings to this computer 5 times and when I hit the sync button, it turns off and restarts.  I loose connection and then have to wait for it to cycle through 3 restarts before it gets recognized again.
