Q: iPad 1query - How can I transfer photos to another device?

I have an iPad 1 with over 4000 photos on it, photos uploaded from an old desktop, photos that I would like to copy to another source (an external drive seems to be my only option). Because the iPad 1 is technically a singular entity now (thanks to Apple NOT allowing iOS upgrades) I have no idea how to get these photos off of my device and essentially clear it. I actually took it to an Apple shop and the tech said that there's no way to do it. I frankly am not sure I believe him. Anyone have suggestions? I tried syncing the iPad 1 with my MacBook but it only uploaded 81 photos (my intent was a transfer and then ANOTHER removal to another external drive.

Synced photos on an iOS device can not be imported to a computer. There are WiFi transfer apps that will allow you to move the photos from the iPad to your Mac and DropBox might be another way to go.

DropBox now requires iOS 7, but this might work for you.
Install the latest compatible version of an app on an earlier version of iOS or OS X - Apple Support

Here is a WiFi transfer app that will work with iOS 5.

Thank you so much! I will try this!! And let you know. I have Dropbox but you're right - everything requires a minimum iOS and my poor iPad cannot comply...
