Perhaps if you can give us a bit more information we may be able to advise.

You say you are on 10.8.5 - but refer to Photos which is only available as part of 10.10

Have you updated any software on you machine recently?

    Is Aperture on your machine?

What version of Aperture do you have?

Is Aperture showing as crossed out in the Applications folder like this?

Then it is incompatible with your current system.  In that case you need to update.

If your current system is MacOS X 10.10.3 or later you need to update to Aperture 3.6.

See this User Tip:   Updating to Aperture 3.6 After the Release of Photos

If Aperture will not open, because it is crashing or giving an error message, post more details on what is happening when you are trying to launch Aperture, any error messages, or where you are storing your Aperture library - and the answers to all questions Brian asked.

Hi Brian and Leonie, Thanks for your responses. I tried opening Aperture again yesterday (without doing anything more than just that) and it opened and all of my files are there! I am currently living in Tanzania, and the power situation is crazy. Have tried to install Yosemite three times now, but the power always shifts from mains to generator.

Back to Aperture. I have four books I have been working on but am wondering if Apple will print them? Each book is 100 pages, so would hate to have to do them over again. Cheers, Donna

Ask the Print Products Store in your country. The situation is different for each country. For some stores we got the information that the Print Products Stores will only print Aperture 3.6, iPhoto 9.6.1,  or Photos books.

You may need to update to Yosemite and Aperture 3.6.  See Old Toad's post here:   Re: I'm trying to order a photobook from Apple and it won't upload. Any ideas

... there are these issues  that you'll need to address. Two users have talked to senior Support personnel and were told that one must upgrade to Yosemite and either use iPhoto 9.6.1 or the new Photos to upload the the finished book:

Re: greeting card will not upload; it assembles but no upload

Re: iPhoto book not uploading to the store. Quits after assembling

So we're left with either upgrading to Yosemite, getting iPhoto 9.6.1 and ordering or keep trying with what we have and hope it goes thru or Apple fixes the problem. Some users reported success after repeated attempts over time.
