Q: Very slow WiFi. iOS 10.10.5

I'm using iOS 10.10.5 on my Macbook Pro mid 2012 and still have problems with WiFi. Speed tests shows download: 2-5 mbps meanwhile on iPad I have 40 mbps. Sometimes on Mac situation looks like: better, worst, better, worst again not good and surprise it became better but again goes down. I tried most of fixes like change locations, delete all files from /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/, delete remembered WiFi. Also I turned something in Terminal which also disable Airdrop but still the same. Do you have problem like this (I think yes) and do you have some good solution?

Please check the speed of your connection on this site.

Then start up in Recovery mode. In the OS X Utilities screen, select Get Help Online. A clean copy of Safari will launch. No plugins, such as Flash, will be available. Check again. Then restart as usual and post the results.

    What does Wireless Diagnostics show?

    Also try turning off Bluetooth.

WIFI AND BLUETOOTH FINALLY SOLVED, NO REALLY - YOSEMITE 10.10

If your Wi-Fi source is capable of generating a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network, try that to help avoid conflicts with Bluetooth.

Same problem here. I'm on a late 2012 iMac running OS X 10.10.5. My internet connection is 76mb down and 15mb up although you wouldn't think it as my iMac is constantly only connecting very slowly over wifi and frequently dropping the connection all together. I've tried deleting the all the .plist files etc etc but the problem persists. There is nothing wrong with my ISP or wifi, all other computers including Macbook Pro (running an older OS X) and all iOS devices connect perfectly and maintain connection and speed.

Does anyone know if Apple going to fix this fault with the next OS X or am I going to have o find multiple temporary fixes? Both keyboard and mouse are bluetooth, s turning that off is not really an option.

Any info on a permanent fix would be great if anyone has anything.

    Thanks

Sometimes it is hard to say because one time download is 20 mbps then 8 mbps and next time 2 mbps but I will try.

Hard to say. I don't see any difference between normal test and recovery mode test. But now when I made 3 test in a row every of them was something around 50 mbps. Sic

It's not clear that you have a problem, other than an intermittently slow Internet connection.

I have the feeling something is not right in 10.10.5. Here is what I get in Wireless diagnostics monitor. Since 10.10.5 (or better some days after upgrading) I need a much stronger signal than before to have an acceptable connection. I used this MBP mid 2012 non-retina for almost 2,5 years basically in the same environments and now it is not working anymore. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I know this isn't at all helpful to your post at all but.... I want to add my own comments as well. I've never posted a complaint about my Mac before. In fact I never had a complaint about my Mac... and I've been using a Mac since 1992.

I have "OS X 10.10.5". To be honest I think it is crap. Since I "upgraded" I fried my hard-drive (which could be related...or not...) and I might as well buy a wired mouse because mine doesn't stay connected (constant disconnect/reconnect). These in addition to a truly pathetic WIFI connection/stability issue that nearly brings me to tears when I try to use it.

It can take up to 7 minutes to load a webpage (even "light" ones).

I've nearly come to the point of scrapping the whole thing (like "out the window") and going "PC"...but it was just too expensive.

There's no way to go "back" to the previous system, unfortunately.

All of the above noting that I have always enjoyed the "hassle and maintenance free" Mac lifestyle and I am not interested in having to dig around in "plists" and whatever other places to find what might be a solution (though I've tried those too as annoying as that is).

I am waiting for the OS upgrade and hoping against hope that it will be better than this.

Also - if it's new system bashing, I've been a user since the 80s. Mac all the way. Now, new updates, nothing is synching any more. I moved, changed email address, now EVERYTHING is messed up. I do not want to put all my info in a cloud. I just want everything to synch between my MacPro, MacBook Pro, iPhone 5s and iPad!!!! Calendars don't synch, notes, safari (which ***** now) no. It's not only ridiculous and hampering/slowing down my work, but all the pc people I've talked up mac to for so many years - they're laughing. This is not right. And OP, think of this as a PS, not a highjack. Venting. No help from anywhere.
