syncing music - ipod & MacBook

I currently have 468 songs on my iPod and my iPhone 5s. I recently acquired an older MacBook and the iTunes Library is only showing 61 songs.

These songs are the most recently purchased songs. My iPod and MacBook are not syncing up to one another. (my phone has ALL the music synced to it)

I would like 'all' the songs synced to my MacBook, AND I would like the 'newly purchased songs' synced to my iPod...........why is it not working? What am I missing here?

I appreciate anything you can offer!!
