Remote Desktop access from Mac to Windows 10 Laptop

I have an iMac (Retina 5K, 27 inch Late 2014)running Yosemite 10.10.5. My friend has a Lenovo Laptop running Windows 10. She wants me to have remote access to her laptop, so that I can assist her when she has a problem. Can this be done and if so, what is the best method and how can I best set up the two computers to achieve a successful link? I have searched Safari, but nothing seems to deal with Windows 10.

You have quite a few options. Anything from Microsoft's own Remote Desktop App for Mac

through several 3rd party apps that can run on a Mac.

I personally like Teamviewer. Its free for non comercial use.

I can assure you Teamviewer works on Windows 10 just fine. If it says it works on Windows 8, or 8,1 it will work on Windows 10. This applies to pretty much all the remote Apps. Even it they don't explicitly state Windows 10. If it supports Windows it will most likely run on Windows10.
