Going crazy with unwanted startup programs
MacBook Pro mid 2010 with Yosemite 10.10.5
The following programs open when I startup/login: Mail, Word, iTunes, Preferences, Messages, Airport Utility. I don't want any of them to startup.
I have tried the following possible solutions:
- Deleted all login items from preferences/usergroups;
- made sure none of dock items are set to open at login;
- made sure that box to reopen windows is not checked when restarting or shutting down;
- made sure that Library/Startup and System/Library/Startup folders are empty;
- checked preferences for each of the programs to make sure they are not set to open at startup;
- careful to shut down each program before turning off;
- and finally, ran CleanMyMac3 when everything else failed to help.
I have not done anything with the Library/LaunchAgent or Launch Daemon or the System/Library/Launch Agent or Launch Daemon folders. I'm not sure if I should touch those and, if so, what to delete and how to do it safely.
Suggestions, please!!
