Q: My screen freezes in certain positions - but responds when i tilt it.

Hi guys,

My MacBook Pro (late 2011) has been playing up recently. The screen freezes, fades to white in certain positions and the only way to alleviate it is to tilt the screen. This is becoming a more common occurrence. I hooked it up to an external video source and the external source worked fine whilst the screen froze.

What do you guys think, nicked screen wire?

Also, if needed repairs - anyone know how to go about it? I live on an island and nearest Apple store is about 4 hours travel time away.

Hi Randy7121,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it sounds like the screen fades to white, and this does not happen on other screens. I would recommend that you read these articles, they may be helpful in troubleshooting your issue.

Start up in Safe Mode.

From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.

Choose Displays from the View menu to open the preferences pane.

Select any resolution and refresh rate that your display supports.

Restart your computer.

Have the connector in the hinge checked.
