Q: I  just bought a new ipod shuffle 4th gen - not working

I already have one.  Initially the new one was recognised.  Asked do I trust - said yes.  Synced.  Nothing playing.

Reconnected - recognised - showing content via iTunes.  Still not working

Now I can do a soft reset - and the green light comes on for a few seconds - then goes off again. Pressing play lights the green light ONLY when play is pressed.  ITunes is not recognising the shuffle is connected anymore.

Tested the cable and connection with the older shuffle - this one is showing in iTunes so it is not the cable and not the USB port.

Running Windows 7 and up to date iTunes.

How can I do a hard reset when iTunes doesn't even know its connected?  Or do I have to trek to an apple store??

Dell Stuid XPS, Windows 7, 64 bit
