I've downloaded Snow Leopard so I could upgrade Safari, but Safari still shows version 4.0.4. The OS X is now 10.6.3. I've tried rebooting several times. What am I missing? Thanks for your help.

Download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8. See if this fixes the problem.
10.6.3 is a very old version of Snow Leopard - run software update multiple times to get it updated to 10.6.8
I think you can get to Safari 5.1.10 with a fully updated 10.6.

If no updates appear check your internet is working on that Mac & then post back here.

Safari did not upgrade after loading Snow Leopard.
