I downloaded the new OS recently and now my Outlook will not send email. They get stuck in the outbox. I can still receive email. It is connected to my gmail account. Anyone else have this issue?

You should also contact Microsoft for Mac Supportand/or post in their forums. It's where the Mac users who use Microsoft products hang out.
Sorry, I didn't mean to put Outlook. It is just my Mail on my Macbook.
After upgrading the OS of my MAC from Yosemite to El Capitan the Outlook 2011 has stopped working.
Every time I try to synchronize the emails it freezes.
Before, with Yosemite, it used to work flawless.
Does anyone has more information about that?
How to solve this problem?

I now have the same problem. The beachball just continues to spin. This happens when Outlook tries to sync new mail. Hopefully Microsoft will have a fix for this soon.
For those who are having problems with Outlook 2011 after updating to El Capitain (OS X 10.11.1), I would like to inform that Microsoft has released un update (Office2011-1456Update_EN-US.dmg). I installed the update and now my Outlook 2011 is working again, finally!!!!.
Glad tis worked for you (presume it is MS fix 14.5.6). I too downloaded it but the problem (identical to yours) prevails. Difficult to know what to try next but have booked a one to one tomorrow to see if that will offer some advice.
My hotmail / outlook email continually says unable to send (due to server?) I can receive mail okay but it just sits in outbox when trying to send. My iCloud email is working fine. However, I have noticed that a lot of my regular sites such as eBay, netflix (also on my smart TV) are asking to reset passwords?
Does anyone know if this could be linked to updates ... I am not at all savvy with all this and can't face going into Apple store ?
Please help anyone?
